I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Deloitte (New York, NY) in Mar 2011
Interview
I was interviewing for a Senior COnsultant position with Deloitte. I am a female and am recently married so I had significant aversions to extensive travel that would pull me away from my newlywed life but the economy is bad so I thought I would accept if nothing came available.
Deloitte flies you in, sets you up in a nice hotel nearby and has you show up bright and early for a half-day interview. I interviewed with 3 gentlemen. Actually - I interviews twice with Deloitte for different areas of Consulting and interviewed with 3 gentlemen as well.
Questions: 1. Name a time when you had a significant challenge on a project and how did you overcome it?
2. Recall a tough associate on your team and how did you deal with it?
3. Tell us how you gain respect and the partnership of your client.
4. What are your best skills and why?
5. What is your worst quality and how do you work against it?
6. How would your teammates describe you?
7. How do you feel about travel?
8. Tell us about your biggest project accomplishment.
9. Tell us why you want to be a consultant.
10. What do you know about "Human Capital" or "Strategy" or "fill in the blank for your area here?"
11. Tell me how you run a project.
Then one of interviewers (could be in any order) presents you with a case study where you are asked to take the problem and solve it. You can write on the whiteboard in the small office if you wish.
Case study: Oil company is bought out - tell us how you'd manage the change?
Look up other case studies on deloitte's website too - very helpful.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Deloitte (Columbus, OH)
Interview
There was an initial screening followed by two rounds of 4 virtual interviews (8 total). I began the process in early March and it closed in mid June. I was disappointed in the level of communication by the recruiters. For example, for the second round of interviews I was told they were all behavioral but one was a case study on a very niche industry. I was not prepared and ended up winging it. Overall, the process seemed rather disorganized. Interviewers were often late to the calls. One of the interviewers was distracted the whole time. I had to set up two separate online portals. The fact I had to interview 8 different times just to get a “no” seems ridiculous. I expected better from an organization like Deloitte.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked a lot of the typical behavioral questions you’d expect. Two of my interviews were case studies.
- Intro of both sides incl. CV presentation
- briefly cultural fit questions like how I like to work with colleagues
- case interview testing structured approach and critical thinking
The process was very structured, beginning with managers, before progressing to a final interview with the partner. The first stages were more analytical, with the final interview being less formal, where it appeared the partner was seeking to finalise the recruitment process.
