I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Deloitte (Washington, DC) in Apr 2012
Interview
I was referred by a friend of mine already working for Deloitte. A few positions were opening up on the team and I was asked to submit my resume. I was emailed a short time later to set up a phone interview with two team members. This interview lasted 45 min and consisted of your run of the mill interview questions, some questions specific to the job and a few 'fit' questions. At the end of the interview I was told a senior manager would be in touch with me. I had a 1-1 phone conversation with the senior manager that lasted about 15 min. He invited me to a face to face meeting with him at a location near a client site he was visiting. I met with him for 2.5 hours and discussed in detail my career, the environment at Deloitte and the client site I would be potentially working at. The meeting went well and I was told he was going to submit my name to HR. I then had two short phone interviews with various HR people. After these went well I had a phone interview with a director. This lasted only 20 min and was really just a friendly conversation. Lastly I had a case study interview with the original senior manager. We ran through a scenario similar to what I will deal with in the position offered. Scenario was IT cost cutting based. A few days after HR called to inform me of their offer. While the process was long, the people were super friendly and came across as highly intelligent go-getters.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Deloitte (Columbus, OH)
Interview
There was an initial screening followed by two rounds of 4 virtual interviews (8 total). I began the process in early March and it closed in mid June. I was disappointed in the level of communication by the recruiters. For example, for the second round of interviews I was told they were all behavioral but one was a case study on a very niche industry. I was not prepared and ended up winging it. Overall, the process seemed rather disorganized. Interviewers were often late to the calls. One of the interviewers was distracted the whole time. I had to set up two separate online portals. The fact I had to interview 8 different times just to get a “no” seems ridiculous. I expected better from an organization like Deloitte.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked a lot of the typical behavioral questions you’d expect. Two of my interviews were case studies.
- Intro of both sides incl. CV presentation
- briefly cultural fit questions like how I like to work with colleagues
- case interview testing structured approach and critical thinking
The process was very structured, beginning with managers, before progressing to a final interview with the partner. The first stages were more analytical, with the final interview being less formal, where it appeared the partner was seeking to finalise the recruitment process.
