I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Deloitte (Charlottesville, VA) in Oct 2012
Interview
The interviewing process for the MBA full time process was carried on grounds and taken in a 2-day process.
In the first day I had 2 interviews with 1 senior manager and 1 partner.
The partner was very tired, almost didn't listen to many of my answers and did not challenge me with any good question. The case given was very straight forward, almost like a brain teaser.
The senior manager was clearly trying to do the interview "checklist", making a very boring and unnatural interview. The case was a basic profit/loss one.
In the second day students were gathered in groups and had to do a presentation on a consulting engagement.
It's important to mention that they did not hire any international students (on a F-1 visa), and that there was not much diversity in the 13 candidates that got offers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I think the most difficult question (if there were any), was when I was questioned about how would my peers react when questioned about my strengths.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Deloitte (Columbus, OH)
Interview
There was an initial screening followed by two rounds of 4 virtual interviews (8 total). I began the process in early March and it closed in mid June. I was disappointed in the level of communication by the recruiters. For example, for the second round of interviews I was told they were all behavioral but one was a case study on a very niche industry. I was not prepared and ended up winging it. Overall, the process seemed rather disorganized. Interviewers were often late to the calls. One of the interviewers was distracted the whole time. I had to set up two separate online portals. The fact I had to interview 8 different times just to get a “no” seems ridiculous. I expected better from an organization like Deloitte.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked a lot of the typical behavioral questions you’d expect. Two of my interviews were case studies.
- Intro of both sides incl. CV presentation
- briefly cultural fit questions like how I like to work with colleagues
- case interview testing structured approach and critical thinking
The process was very structured, beginning with managers, before progressing to a final interview with the partner. The first stages were more analytical, with the final interview being less formal, where it appeared the partner was seeking to finalise the recruitment process.
