Ramp Agent - Ready Reserve Interview

      Mar 9, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Minneapolis, MN
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Delta Air Lines (Minneapolis, MN) in Mar 2019

      Interview

Applied for the MSP station 2/14 - Applied online and filled out a Delta personality inventory 2/28 - Received invitation for HireViue 'phone' screen. Five questions and you can record as many times as you want. 3/5 - Received invitation for F2F interview. Have to select from certain dates. Only option available was for 2 days later. 3/7- F2F. Met in lobby 15 minutes before interview. You sign in a log book and must present two forms of government issues ID (even though the email will say you can use a current employee badge). Be on time - I have a suspicion they check to see when you showed up. We were then brought to a small-ish conference room where we were presented with a small Delta branded swag bag. The three interviewers introduced themselves, and the small group of ~10 went around and shared name, hometown, airline experience and/or why Delta, and the first NRSA flight we would take. We then watched a video about the position and went over a PPT with specific details (pay, hours, vacation days, etc.) **Here comes the big part** - The interviewers reveal that as soon as the 4(!!) background checks clear in about 3-5 weeks, you will be placed in a training group which meets 5am-1:30pm or 1:30pm-10pm for ~4 weeks 40hrs a week (even though RR is 20-23hrs/wk. You have no choice as to which group you are put in, and must begin immediately. They did say that you had the chance to put in your 2 weeks once your background checks do clear however. You can also not trade/drop/pick up shifts for 90 days. At this point about half of the group of 10 left. (Seems they should have been more up front with this information). After that, the interviewers will each take one person to a 1:1 where they ask 3 STAR questions. These are very similar to the video interview. It almost seemed like the interviewer already knew who they were going to hire before you sat down. Only 2 of our group of around 10 (many of which with had airline experience, and I had none) were hired. Upon finishing the 1:1 you are offered your CJO and taken to a conference room to be fingerprinted and start a PILE of paper work. Seriously be prepared for your wrist to hurt. Physical and drug test will have to be done at different facilities, and a time will be scheduled for you to visit your airport with the HR person to start the SIDA process. Don't expect to start for more than a month after interview date.
