I had one phone interview, a Skype call with two of the team and was flown up to Grand Rapids to meet six team members.
The interviews were all standard competency based questions. The team is very friendly and transparent about issues they are facing.
However, feedback and process timelines between interviews was unclear. I flew up to corporate HQ for a Monday morning interview but despite chasing the internal recruiter I heard absolutely nothing.
On Friday afternoon I finally received an automated rejection message. I emailed the recruiter - I believe after preparing for three interviews and taking time out of my schedule to travel, some human feedback is deserved whether it's a quick phone call or email.
The recruiter immediately called and claimed she normally calls before sending out those emails but basically she was so busy she forgot. And therein lies the rub...
The feedback was that I didn't get the job because they didnt think I could handle the number of live requisitons (75 to 100 depending on who I asked). This is an HR team struggling to find and keep good TA Directors and Managers but good recruitment practice is clearly not a priority. It's about putting butts on seats. You can't have 100 live jobs (many of them warehouse or manual labor) and do meaningful mid/senior/executive level recruitment, let alone have time for improving systems, devising new strategies, building a talent pipeline etc.
Overall, nice people but after some thought, I was relieved not to have received an offer.
