I began interviewing remotely approximately 5 months before I was planning to start so to begin with, my situation was a little unusual. I received an initial screening by someone from HR with very basic questions. After that, I spoke with the manager for the position and had a few technical questions at that time. Following that interview, I had two technical interviews. One was a multiple choice test containing programming/database questions, followed by a few hands-on labs SQL queries. The next one was a 5 minute presentation on data virtualization in conjunction with with a 25 min presentation on their platform. After those, I had two more follow on interview with the HR folks. Overall, the experience was long and drawn out, communication was difficult with the company (they strictly communicate through recruiting software), and they were not transparent with the salary at all. After, 6-8 weeks of extensive interviews and spending lots of time learning their proprietary software for interviews, they offered me a compensation package no where near where I wanted to be. However, with that being said, everyone I spoke to in the company were true professionals and extremely nice, personable people. My big complaint is just spending so much time and effort for a lousy offer.
