Very Negative Experience interviewing with the company.
I applied both on LinkedIn and also sent my resume directly to the Sales Operations Manager who then forwarded my resume to the HR department. HR reached out to set up a phone call which was scheduled for 5:00pm CST.
On the day of the interview, I receive an email from HR asking to move the phone call to 6:00 pm CST. I agreed as I understood things come up and was trying to be flexible.
On the 5 minute phone call, HR immediately apologizes for not realizing it was 6:00 pm my time and I was in the Chicago land area applying for a hybrid job at their Chicago office (red flag #1). I was then asked if I applied for the position on their website which I confirmed but told HR I did get an email saying they were moving forward with other candidates but assumed they would still like to interview me since the phone call was still scheduled. I was then told "the system denied your resume since you did not have deal desk experience". I replied with "I may not have the actual title of Deal Desk" but my experience matches exactly what you guys are looking for so thought it would be beneficial to go over my skillset on this call".
I was then told "We are actually looking for someone who has worked in the tech industry". The next quote is pulled directly from their job listing on both their website and LinkedIn "Experience in a similar high growth role in the Technology industry is preferred but not required". I explained what was posted on the job posting and why I continued with applying for the job as I have the EXACT experience they were looking for. I tried to discuss my skill set but kept being told "We are looking for someone in tech industry".
The time spent to prepare for the interview was wasted as HR didn't want to listen to my experience.
RED FLAGS
1. HR was not aware of the location of the position I was applying for.
2. LinkedIn job postings are not accurate to what they are actually looking for.
3. HR did not do their due diligence by checking my resume before the interview to check qualifications.
If this is how the company is handling potential new hires, I can only imagine how they handle internal HR issues.
Bullet dodged!
