Interview process was really straightforward. Filled out get to know you survey and received notice about a week after that I was invited to a first round interview. I was able to do this on video, as I am not in the Detroit area. Heard within two days that I was invited to a technical interview. I flew myself to Detroit for the interview. It was a 2-hour roleplay. It went incredibly well, did a lot of research beforehand and had lots of practice from my work experience. The office was BEAUTIFUL and everyone was fabulous to work with. Within a week, I heard that they would like to offer me the role. However, due to the nature of the unique hiring process, we weren't able to meet on salary expectations. My advice would be to ask about salary up front - they don't appear to make adjustments for your current role & past experiences. When you are doing research on potential salary, don't use the title "delivery lead" to try to estimate the salary expectations either - just ask someone at Detroit Labs, they are transparent. It seemed at first that they were open to a salary that I felt met my qualifications and the role expectations, as the contact that reached out about the offer asked me my salary expectations in the offer email without anchoring me to a figure. Once I am ready to chill in my career and take a salary cut, I will definitely be applying to Detroit Labs again. I would love to work there. This role is probably best for someone who is early in their career and hasn't adjusted to a high salary yet or someone who is looking to wind down their career and just wants to work for an awesome company.
