Excellent interviewer described the structure of the company, the department, and the role I would have within the organization. Shared the culture, the executive level priorities, and top management's attention to effective communications. I asked to know more about the group I would be working in and the other groups in the department. Interviewer wasn't clear about the way this job had been handled during the time the previous person left this position and the current day; without revealing my exact curiosity (and without using the words I'm sharing here), I was hoping to learn if this role was critical or expendable, and whether there would be a huge backlog of work on Day 1, but the interviewer provided an "answer" that didn't give details so I let it go. With so many layoffs in the energy field, I assume this position was a nice-to-have but not a must-have.
