Interview
Initial call with Recruiter, who will schedule the remaining interviews. Phone screen was supposed to be a video conference but after 10 mins waiting the manager calls me on my phone telling the recruiter did not start the video conference. Phone screen with manager and two other QA for an hour.Manager asked basic intro question and the other two QA asked mostly questions from work experience and whatever you write on resume. Some java theory questions .Called me onsite in San Diego for in person. On the day of onsite, I reached their office in San Diego. The security guy called the manager twice who was supposed to interview me. The manager shows up 10 mins late with no apologies . He did not book an interview room so we wait again to figure out where to sit. Once we got a room other two QA - One staff QA and other Senior also came. These were the same people who interviewed me on phone. The interview was for an hour. The staff QA brings in 2 sheets of paper full of handwritten questions and Manager nods to fire them at me watching like watching a ping pong game. Some of the questions were very theoretical and I have never used in my 6 + years of coding. Seems like they do not want problem solving skills, just textbook definitions. They want the exact syntax of the code you have written in some of your experience and do not look convinced by just the logic of solution. Though the position was a Sr SDET they did not ask to solve any code , mostly theoretical. In one of the solutions to a question regarding a data structure to use, she blatantly tells "it will not work". I have used the same data structure in that scenario and it has always worked.
