I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Dillard's (Auburn, AL) in Sep 2012
Interview
Applied in store. After I finished the application I was told to call "0" to let them know I've finished my application. A few hours later I got a call setting up an interview for the next day. The interview was about an hour & 1/2. Longest interview I've ever had. The manager was very cool though. He basically talked about the policy and asked me about my precious jobs. After the interview we set up another interview for the next day. My second interview only lasted about 30 minutes. He asked me about myself & then asked about 20 questions from a sheet of paper. After the interview he told me he'd keep call me if the chose to move forward with the process of hiring me. A few hours later I got offered a position in the juniors department which is exactly what I wanted.

Question 1
Dillard's employees have to be creative, how would you get creative to make more sales?
Standard interview, quite short (20 minutes) for the first round. Asked about past experience, sales skills, expected pay, and my future goals at the company. Interviewers were very nice and welcoming, made the experience much less intimidating!
Not sure what to expect. When I spoke to the manager it felt very condescending and off putting. The interview was fine but they exaggerated the amount of commission associates can make and didn’t even give me a chance to agree to a job offer just assumed that I would take it. I don’t have very high hopes about how it will be working there. When I came in for my interview one associate didn’t even greet me like she did the last customer and the energy of the atmosphere just felt super dull and soulless. I need this job on my resume as a fashion business student for internships so I’ll push through but not at all optimistic about the work environment.
