Interview
Application information had to be completed at an on site computer. Inputting this information took about 20 minutes. You needed references, addresses, and had to answer a series of personality type questions. These were easy, but time consuming. I had a 10 minute interview with the counter manager. I was supposed to interview with the store manager, but the position really needed to be filled quickly so I was able to skip that part. The questions were easy. Why Dillard's? What do you like about retail? Give an example of a good selling technique.
Standard interview, quite short (20 minutes) for the first round. Asked about past experience, sales skills, expected pay, and my future goals at the company. Interviewers were very nice and welcoming, made the experience much less intimidating!
Not sure what to expect. When I spoke to the manager it felt very condescending and off putting. The interview was fine but they exaggerated the amount of commission associates can make and didn’t even give me a chance to agree to a job offer just assumed that I would take it. I don’t have very high hopes about how it will be working there. When I came in for my interview one associate didn’t even greet me like she did the last customer and the energy of the atmosphere just felt super dull and soulless. I need this job on my resume as a fashion business student for internships so I’ll push through but not at all optimistic about the work environment.
