Direct Energy came to the PES Career Fair held at University of Houston. Out of curiosity I decided to go talk to them and make myself known, as I am interested in marketing and I thought it would be a good opportunity working for the largest energy provider in North America. The representatives at the DE booth took interest in me and took my down my email and resume. The next I got a follow up email from one of the DE employees at the booth asking me when it would be a good time to set up a phone interview. Her and I set up a phone interview for the following week. The phone call was punctual and short. It lasted at most 8 minutes and probably consisted of only 4 questions: Can you tell me about yourself? What do you know about DE? Why do you want to work for DE? What skills do you think you can gain?. My interviewer said that I would be moving on to the next step and would be receiving an email and phone call from someone else in the company. Over a week later, I received a phone call from a guy claiming to work for DE and we scheduled a time for a second interview. He sent me all the details via email. Upon analyzing the email, I thought it was weird that his email extension did not match the lady's extension that emailed and called me earlier. Instead, his was pvlmkt.com. I looked up this name and company he claimed to work on linkedin and glassdoor and my search came up inconclusive. His company, PVL Marketing, does not exist and the address he gave me for the second interview did not match that of Direct Energy's headquarters in Houston. I found all this out the night before our second interview but I was still interested in going to see what it was all about. The morning of the second interview I called the lady the had originally phone screened me to ask if she know the John Doe that emailed me for the second interview, Her response was "oh yeah we know him". K cool so he wasn't a random person. I arrived at the interview location. It was a co-working place over in Uptown/Post Oak. The guy interviewing me introduced himself to me and I followed him to his office. Immediately he started telling me about the position. I stopped and asked if had even seen my resume or had a copy of it and he said "No". I thought "seriously, how professional". I brought copies and handed him one. He then proceeded to talk about the position. NOT once did he ask me anything about my experience or about myself or glanced over my resume!! He explained the position as a door to door sales position but that all the customers would be "pre-approved". Finally he asked me a creepy question twice, once at the beginning of the interview and one at the end which made me really suspicious. He said "So..... do you have any girl friends that would be interested, in working this position with you too?" WHAT why would you ask that not once but TWICE?? How gross. This entire process ended up being disappointing, a waste of time, and scam
