      Inside Sales Account Manager Interview

      Oct 31, 2011
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Milwaukee, WI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Direct Supply (Milwaukee, WI) in Jun 2010

      Interview

I made it through the initial phone interview and two other interviews... only to advance to another interview with the VP and Director of Sales. Not sure if it was set up to go this way, but there was confusion when I got there and it seemed as though things were chaotic behind the scenes. The woman apologized that the VP would not be making it to the interview. Her request to me: Describe to her what a commercial about myself would be like. I am still not sure if this was just her way of being lazy and wanting to end the interview as quickly as possible ... or if this was a serious request because she didn't take the time to review the previous testing or other interview notes. I didn't get the job, but had a feeling that I escaped a situation with a bad boss. Up until this point I really had thought I would really fit with this company. The other interviewers were professional and personable. The last interview left me wanting to run.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Direct Supply (Milwaukee, WI) in Nov 2016

      Interview

I showed up and signed some documents and took the Wonderlic Exam. I waited for another five minutes or so before I was brought back and offered some water. I then spent about a half hour observing an account manager while listening in on their phone calls and asking questions. A short interview followed where we went through my resume, and a few questions. After the first interview I had another observing session with a new account manager, followed by a similar interview with two new employees.

      Inside Sales Account Manager Interview

      Jun 2, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Milwaukee, WI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Direct Supply (Milwaukee, WI) in Jun 2014

      Interview

A company Recruiter called me for a phone interview. I'm a long time company HR professional myself so I checked out her Linked In Profile and guess that she was maybe a couple of years out of college. A friend who worked for Direct Supply some years ago told me that I shouldn't waste my time because they don't pay well and hire mostly people under 40. For me, this sales role would have been a career change and I explained that to the interviewer who I could tell made her decision about me within the first ten minutes of the phone interview. I have about 20 years of experience in the long term care/senior housing field and I attempted to explain how that could benefit Direct Supply. Particularly since I've worked as a Manager in a Long Term Care Facility. This young dynamo seemed to care less and kept focusing on the sales questions that must have been supplied to her. About 20 minutes into the interview, I kind of gave up because I could tell she had no interest in forwarding me on. No surprise, the next day, I got a thanks but no thanks email. Trust me, I wouldn't have wanted to work for them regardless. The Recruiter made no attempt to sell the company or the job, she just kept focusing on her prepared questions. Recently, I found out that a good friend also interviewed with them recently and had a similar poor experience. She was also a 40+ age worker. Lesson, don't apply if you aren't young and willing to work for close to nothing. The Recruiter did share the salary and I'm smart enough to know that it was low even based on Milwaukee standards.

      Question 1

Question after question about my sales experience, which I lacked directly. So, not sure why the Recruiter wasted the time of either one of us.
