Interview
Stage one was a virtual coding challenge performed in the presence of a software engineer at Direct Supply. You get to pick one out of five coding challenges and have about a day in advance to prepare for it. If you pass the coding challenge, the last interview consists of five 30 minute interviews back-to-back with managers, directors, and engineers totaling a 2.5 hour interview. Depending on the interviewing chemistry, these individual interviews can go by pretty quick.

Question 1
Behavioral questions and questions about my work experience. One engineer was pretty big on asking about unit and integration testing. I enjoyed all of my interviews and the 2.5 hours went by really quick. At the end, I did receive an offer but declined it. It was a really lowball offer with them citing that I don't quite have the expert experience in the infrastructure tech stack the team is using, despite my vast experience and skillset. Whether this excuse was true or not, it felt like they're taking advantage of a cooler market for software engineers and did a bait and switch to get desperate engineers for really low pay.

The recruiter was very helpful and seemed concerned about me and my goals. My experience was better than most and I found him to be knowledgeable about the company and the future of Direct Supply.
