I think I've been ghosted! This entire process was a carnival of incompetence.
I applied for the position on March 1, 2021. HR reached out to schedule a phone screening in early May. By that point, I'd almost forgotten that I'd applied for a job with Discovery.
The HR representative was late to the phone interview, though, to be fair, she did email me to let me know she was running behind. Our conversation went well enough, and she promised she'd soon be in touch to schedule an in-person (well, Zoom) interview.
A week or so later, the HR woman asked my availability for the interview.
I gave it. I waited. All of the potential dates and times passed. I sent a follow-up email.
And then I waited. And waited. And waited some more.
Finally, two HR representatives -- the original woman and a second one -- asked me for more availability. I gave it, then waited a few more days until I was scheduled to speak with the hiring manager.
The video interview went very well.
I was told HR would be in touch with next steps. That was well over a month ago. And that's interesting to me, because both HR and the hiring manager stressed the need to fill this particular position as quickly as possible.
It's obvious that I wasn't selected, but if you took the time and made the effort to speak to me in person (which also required time, effort and preparation from me), at least give me the courtesy of a "thanks, but no thanks."
A laughably incompetent HR department is one of the reasons why I'm trying to leave my current job. This interview process gave me the impression that working for Discovery would be a classic case of same mess, different day.
