I had a good initial screening with a recruiter, but a bad interview video call with the hiring manager. I prepared extensively for the technical interview and felt very well covered in what the job description asked for. It started off badly when the hiring manager told me they weren't going to put their camera on which really threw me off. I did well on the technical questions but was caught out by some irrelevant topics that didn't seem to match the job description or experience level. This especially annoyed me because, while I did have ample relevant experience, the job description noted: "We recognize that applying to internships can be a daunting process, especially if you have not had any previous internships, or if this is a new field of interest to you. Even if you do not have previous professional experience to meet the listed qualifications, we will consider relevant project, volunteer, and extracurricular experiences, and we encourage you to include them on your resume and apply." The hiring manager was generally curt and unpersonable and made the interview awkward and uncomfortable. Bad experience.
