Dear Recruiters who work at DoorDash, Please operate with professionalism and hold your self accountable in great work ethics, for I as a candidate during a hard time in tech, have no patience for incompetency. I value my time so should you. A recruiter reached out to me to set time to chat. I sent out a bunch of times and dates to align. Rescheduled twice on aligned date and times a few minutes before the call. Happened Twice. No follow ups no progress, nada. Then a few days later, I get your amazing, standard, so boring, impersonal, robotic email that my candidacy is appreciated and is paused. Get it together, DoorDash.

Interview
You will first meet a recruiter and then your hiring manager. Once screened in through them both (this is also your opportunity to learn a lot about the company and the role!) — you are brought into the interview round. For the first technical assessment you go through two case studies with the hiring manager. I did not move on to the next stage, however, I was told it would be a longer (4hr) series of interviews. This would include another presentation of your case studies to a panel of interested parties.

Interview
Online portfolio review and Q&A sessions with two Doordash design leaders.
I felt the interview was a bit dry. First, two panels asked design related questions after presenting my portfolio, which I felt were valid and reasonable. Then there were also questions that were based on “what-if” scenarios and out of business scope of my previous employer. I felt the questions were irrelevant but answered any way.
I didn’t expect them to find my answers satisfactory, because questions about hypothetical situations that are not based in real life restrictions and challenges are not only irrelevant, but also proves nothing about a candidate’s design ability.

If you were to given all the time in the world, without any restrictions, how would you have designed the product differently?
