The interview was conducted over Zoom. The interviewer arrived almost 10 minutes late and proceeded to say that she only had 17 minutes left. She asked rapid-fire questions and expressed impatience as I tried to finish answering. Questions were pretty routine (think STAR-type, behavioral questions) but she appeared uninterested in listening to the answers. I have every credential necessary to perform this role and have been in similar roles several times in the past. In order to gain knowledge and prepare for this interview, I had thoroughly researched Doordash - including their financials and business environment - and had signed up to become a driver, to boot. The interviewer did not allow me an opportunity to share my interest and relevant experience. If I'm being honest, I'd say the recruiting team were better prepared and had done a much better job in preliminary rounds leading up to this interview. Later, I chatted about this interview with my mentor, someone with 20+ years of experience as a leader in this industry, and they mentioned they had worked closely with this interviewer in the past. Unprompted, my mentor also then said that they did not believe this interviewer had adequate knowledge of content or content design and that she should not have been conducting this interview in the first place. This role has now been open for months. If I were a member of Doordash's leadership team, I'd take a close look at the interviewer and see if making a change there doesn't help them recruit better.
