Initial phone screen was pretty standard, just a general overview of the role and basic questions about previous experience. After that came a 45 min interview with the hiring manager - they provided a ton of reading materials to prepare beforehand but most of these were completely useless as most questions were strictly behavioral. What surprised me the most is that, while they claim to have performance reviews twice a year, when asked about what metrics performance would be measured against the hiring manager seemed puzzled then said “if I have more free time you’re doing a good job” and to top it off proceeded to let me know the last person in the position was laid off. If there’s no metrics in place to measure success, how can someone ever progress in their career through merit or feel any sense of job security? Red flags all around
