Initial interview was digitally recorded, business dress required. No real person speaking with you, but only you recording yourself for a few questions and a few minutes each. In person was on location and with two people. Unfortunately, the interviewer was honest about the hours and I declined the position.
The interviewer could not make constant eye contact, was distracted with my résumé, and kept interrupting me. They were concerned with a couple of gaps of my résumé from two years after the pandemic. They mentioned that most hotel positions locally are union based however, it is not mentioned on the job posting. The job posting requires you to have open and availability however, due to being in a union, you would be given the overnight shifts 3pm-11pm or 4pm-12am. They mentioned that during the slow season November through February, you would have limited hours, if not any at all and no guarantee. The interviewer kept hinting at this and kept mentioning they just want to be honest with everything and I’m free to decline and not proceed with the interview. I took this as an opportunity to not proceed with the interview. During the entire in person interview, it was one red flag after another, leading me to thankfully pick up that this would not be the best fit.
Would not recommend this for someone transitioning careers, or as a business professional.
