I applied and interviewed for a mid level engineer role based out of an expensive city in the US. Despite my Master’s degree and over 1.5 years of work experience, my interviewer had the gall to claim I only qualified for the associate engineer role and lowballed the salary and benefits after asking what my desired pay was (straight up claiming that my range was unrealistic and laughable). A couple of weeks layer, I was rejected for the role at Dover’s subsidiary and was offered a mid-level engineer role at another company where my salary was literally $35,000 more (what I asked for and more), both reflecting my skill level and matching the living expense that is part of living and working in a city. The rudeness and depreciation that the Dover interviewer exhibited was unprofessional and appalling. I strongly believe they were specifically targeting recent grads who are from abroad and desperate for Visa sponsorship, but who can’t negotiate as much. The toxicity of this behavior shows that Dover and its subsidiaries do not value their interviewers and employees. No one should be under valued in this way. So, warning: do not apply nor work for a company like this. Respect yourself since they unable able to.
