I applied on LinkedIn, connected with the Dragos recruiter, and had a call a few days later with them. I was then shamelessly led on by the recruiter for a month via email. When I would reach out for an update, the replies from the recruiter included promising things were moving forward, that a call was would surely be scheduled soon - within the next few days, then in the next week, that the team was just super busy, to hang tight, and I'm pushing your info, etc.
It was clear early on this wasn't going anywhere, but I wanted to keep the opportunity open just in case. After about 4 weeks of no movement, I finally asked point blank what the status was so I could move on. I was told they had identified their top candidates several weeks prior and were already in the final rounds of interviewing. Just a total waste of time - how about communicate what the situation is like an adult and save us all the trouble. From my perspective, everything I had been told after the first email exchange and beyond was nothing but lip service, despite what was maybe good intentions.
