I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at DroneShield (Sydney) in Mar 2022
Interview
The interviewers were friendly and asked good questions but the culture of the company seems like they expect you to go well above and beyond for the compensation provided. I spoke about working in places like that previously and that finding the right balance is key. I was told my application would not continue because I was not committed enough.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Are you willing to put in a lot of overtime and weekends to help us meet our targets?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at DroneShield (Pyrmont) in Apr 2025
Interview
1. 30 min video interview for culture fit.
A week later
2. 90 min "technical" panel interview with Manger and 2 other SE - No Technical questions in interview all behavioural questions round-robin style from each panellist. I bought up technical topics to flex my knowledge (Req Mgmt, RF, EMC/EMI, V&V, Design Changes, Safety assurance, Modelling) as I thought this is a technical interview. I spoke about my delivery experience doing different tasks across the SE lifecycle as well but seemed like panellist didn't have much experience themselves so they couldn't press me or probably didn't even know what I'm talking about regards MIL-STD and req. analysis etc. I felt like I was teaching them at some points tbh. I got the impression that their Systems Engineering processes are very immature, so they work more like Project engineers doing random things/firefighting.
After a few days, got told by the recruiter that the Manager said 'yes' but the other 2 panellist said 'no' based on culture-fit, mind you they have been at the company for less than 6 months themselves and this was the technical interview round (so at least reject on technical grounds). I was bit disappointed as I thought I smashed the interview (I spoke for the whole 90 mins unphased) and if the Manager says yes then it should override the others. Very strange logic.
3. I believe there is an interview with CTO.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at DroneShield (Pyrmont) in Sep 2024
Interview
3 rounds of interviews.
Introduction and screening interview online call with line manager, technical interview with colleagues and line manager,
Final round technical and cultural fit interview with CTO and upper management
