I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Dropbox (New York, NY) in Nov 2016
Interview
I applied through an interior refer. I got the email from the recruiter and being set up an portfolio review with their current product designer. I talked about two projects and they even gave you what they wanted to know from the review beforehand, which was pretty helpful in preparation. In the interview, you just have to go through your ideas of the projects. They really asked why you make each decision and your justification. Most of the questions were more about the product but not design itself. And I recommend you to make a video or something in inVision to illustrate your final design because he spent sometime asking me about this (I didn't have to make one). 2 days after the interview, I was told I'm not a good fit.
Anyway, both the recruiter and the interviewer were so nice. This interview made me rethink a lot about my portfolio. The recruiters moved very fast and were so nice in email. They really made you feel good.
BTW, I was told by the interviewer that they just have 35-40 product designers in the big company, so I think it would a little bit difficult to get in.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Do you have more illustrations for your final design?
Interview process started with a recruiter call, next was a hiring manager call, portfolio review + cross-functional interviews, followed by a final hiring manager call - overall very positive and straightforward experience!
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Dropbox in Feb 2025
Interview
The process was straightforward and clearly outlined. However, I found the recruiter to be a bit blunt and less empathetic, which made it harder to feel comfortable while I was nervous.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Dropbox (Toronto, ON) in Jun 2022
Interview
I had an initial call with HR and then a 1-hour portfolio review with the lead designer.
It has been more than four months, and they’ve never gotten back to me, not even an automatic email.
This is very disappointing because I thought Dropbox was a decent company.
