I read prior reviews mentioning “ghost interviews” at this company — where the job likely doesn’t exist, or candidates are used as a resource for internal development or idea-mining. Unfortunately, I experienced the same. After a month of interviews and writing assignments, I received a generic rejection notice. I’m a strong candidate with a competitive resume and excellent interview skills. Thankfully, I had another offer lined up and didn’t put all my eggs in this basket. It’s incredibly dehumanizing to be used for practice or input with no real intent to hire. If something feels off, trust your gut. Companies like this waste your time and energy with no accountability. Frankly, I’ve started considering whether legal action or regulatory oversight is needed for companies that repeatedly exploit candidates under the guise of fake job postings. Candidates deserve honesty, transparency, and respect.

This is my second time interviewing with Dropbox. Both times were very similar. Let me say the entire process is frustrating. It starts with a recruiter call. They send you an email to submit your availability for this call. This was a red flag because after I submitted my availability, the recruiter never followed up. I waited 48 hours, and I had to reach back out. They finally sent me an email with the time/date we will connect. The recruiter was 10 minutes late to our call, which was already frustrating because I already felt this process was going to be a "no" from the start, but I did it anyways. After this call, you're set with the hiring manager. They ask a bunch of "tell me about a time when..." questions. Pretty good conversation. The next step is a written assessment. This is where the process got frustrating. You get 4 questions. The questions are 1. "Hello, the Dropbox website is loading very slowly for me. Everything is working as expected, but the page loads and actions are taking a long time to complete. Do you know why that could be?" 2. "Hello, I’m having a problem with the DocSend Chrome extension. It just randomly disappeared! How can I get it back?" And two more that I can't remember. One of them, you have to record a "How-to video". The questions shouldn't take you more than an hour because you can literally find the answer in their Help Center. I pulled the answers from their Help Center, catered and rewrote them so my answers were crafted in a very detailed way, including links and screenshots. Well, the final stage after passing the written assessment is a panel with 3-4 other people. I got a rejection email after 1 1/2 weeks of waiting. They told me they couldn't give me feedback during "this stage of the interview process". The final stage, you mean? The sad thing about this is that this was my second time interviewing with them for the SAME position, one year apart. The job has been reposted a few times, and it's still open to this day. I noticed other folks who wrote a review for this position also "failed". I think it's a ghost job or they are looking for a very specific unicorn.
