I was contacted by a recruiter for the position. Then met with a hiring manager to discuss the company and the role. After this meeting I met with the team I would be working with, or associating with. They asked how I would handle issues specific to the company and their products. After these interviews I was approved by the hiring manager, and the team. However, one person from the HR department, someone I never met, avoided the approval process for an entire week and refused to mail down a meeting date for the final offer. After the last attempt he came forward with an internal candidate who had applied after the last attempted meeting, and was also his personal friend. So my entire interview was thrown out and this HR representative got his friend hired in a single day after I had been cleared by all but him. It was an decent process up until this person was involved and completely derailed the entire process for selfish and personal gain.
