I applied online. I interviewed at Duolingo in Aug 2020
Interview
Applied online and received a link to a Hackerrank coding challenge. The recruiter said that upon completion + passing they'd reach out within one business day. You apply as a Sophomore as you are entering Junior year. These questions were extremely difficult, LeetCode Hard, which is what most companies use to test experienced engineers. I don't want to sound petty, butI honestly feel like they wasted my time with expecting a level knowledge/fluency not normally seen at this point in any CS curriculum.
Straightforward OA and LC questions. Standard codesignal General Coding Assessment. As for LC, just basic graph traversals and string/array manipulation should be enough. Behavioral was a little short though so didn't get to share much. Overall I thought it was pretty fair.
Easy unproctored code signal, a quick 15 min behavioral interview where I was asked max 4 questions about previous experiences, not expected to have software experience for either the technical or behavioral interview
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One question on a matrix, one question about strings, one about arrays but you’re not expected to get a perfect score
First is codesignal gca and if you pass you transition into Karat interview for 60 minutes. Afterwards its technical for 60 minutes and 15 minutes coffee chat with Duolingo engineer
