Interview
The entire process was extremely smooth and transparent! I was contacted directly by the recruiter shortly after applying online. In that brief conversation she went over what the entire process would look like from that point to the offer (if we got to that point). All of the steps ended up being exactly as she said. Everything was well explained, and I felt comfortable in all of the interviews. It also gave me an opportunity to see if I would like to work at the company as well. The process did take about 2 months from application to the offer, which worked out well for my timeline, but if I had been unemployed it might have been a bit long. However, I was consistently informed about when I would be contacted about the next steps, and I was always contacted on or before that date.
They were also extremely transparent with benefits and compensation. Overall, I had an excellent experience, and I accepted the offer. I am excited about being part of the team based on my experience interviewing. Also, I already feel like I know many of my new colleagues. Definitely the best interview process I've been through!

Question 1
As far as what it was like during the interviews, most of the interviews are task based. I was put in certain situations that simulated aspects of my potential job, and I had to do think aloud exercises to share my thought processes. It was a bit intimidating at first, but I also asked questions anytime I felt uncertain about what I had to do, and I was always treated very kindly. This also gave me an idea of what the job might look like and if I wanted to do it. If you are applying and you've never used Duolingo though, I would definitely recommend downloading the app and using it or some of the tasks might be hard to conceptualize without that frame of reference.
Phone screen, take-home task, then interview with hiring manager.
The hiring process felt one-sided. Both interviewers left less than 5 min for candidate questions. The take-home task was 3 separate tasks with multiple parts, and it was due before even meeting the hiring manager.
FYI, they're very rigid about the Pittsburgh onsite requirement.

Short interview with another curriculum designer followed by technical task. Task tested ways of breaking down language lessons in digestible chunks. Unfortunately, I did not move beyond this point in the interview process.
