      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Duolingo in Apr 2022

      Interview

The first interview was just a screening with a recruiter. I spent a very long time doing the take home task and didn't hear a single thing back afterwards. Not a rejection or anything. I emailed the recruiter after a few weeks and finally after a month I learned they had chosen someone else. By that time, I already knew it was hopeless. It was a huge waste of time and very disappointing. Left such a bad impression I don't even want to use the app anymore.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Duolingo (New York, NY)

      Interview

The process was very transparent and involved real people. There was a 5 minute screening interview and I was also given a set of tasks related to the work which I had to turn in along with explanations of why I made the choices I made.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Duolingo (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

I talked with the recuirter first and moved on to the next round with the hiring manager very quickly. She tested me right there with similar task as the take home task. This actually did not make me feel good since it literally caught me off guard and gave me no time to prepare. I'm assuming that she wants to test how fast I could come up with the answer although I have already passed the take home task since otherwise there would have been no interview with the hiring manager.
