      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Duolingo (Pittsburgh, PA) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Excessively rigorous and time consuming process - first round recruiter, second round with another person, then a take-home task that takes several hours, then a full day virtual onsite, and finally they call your references too. Final round had a lot of open-ended case study type questions that were very vague prompts - if you ask probing/clarifying questions, they don't really give you much additional information. Overall it felt excessively rigorous for seniority level of the job position I applied for, and borderline elitist. Also, they refuse to tell you salary ranges for the position, but at the same time claim to pay equitably. From my conversations with the team, it sounds like they are overworked and understaffed, but not sure if that's by chance or by design
