EGYM Senior Site Reliability Engineer interview questions

Their interview process was like a three or four-step process which started off with a friendly chat with their HR representative. She said that I would need to submit a technical assessment within 3 days. I got the technical coding assessment which happened to be about writing code for a networking utility in a number of languages including Java. It seemed strange to me that I was not given a more relevant assignment to write infrastructure code that automates the provisioning and configuration of on-premise or cloud infrastructure. Another thing was the type of networking utility that I was asked to write. This is a utility that already has implementations. The only twist was a slight addition to the requirements of this utility that was not already in the open. I still proceeded to write this solution relying on lower level networking libraries that allow lower level network capability that would really be insane to rewrite from scratch. After about some days or a week, I got the email below from their HR. If this was about the profile, why did they get me to write the assignment in the first place? Further, they did not provide detailed feedback about the main issue with my submission. It looked like they were just looking for solutions for their development team or already selected their candidate before giving me this test. thank you for submitting the task and your interest in eGym.
