It was a difficult process, taking over two months. The first interview with HR did not seem very productive. They did not share the job description with me even though I had one on the website. The hiring manager was very scattered with her questioning, and I could see that she was very distracted and not with the process. From what I gather most people with this position have some in from another employee and many were Selective Insurance. Also, there seems to be a lot of "attractive women in the age group of 35-45" that have these positions as they are facing their customers. Sorry for the characterization, however, you could not help this conclusion to be made. If you knew someone from Selective, you had an in. Otherwise, as a middle-aged white male who does not look like George Clooney or Brad Pitt, you were not going anywhere. When the company finally got back to me, I was told that the hiring manager was extremely busy and had other issues to focus on. It's a great way to show someone that their time was spent well.
