First students need to apply for doctoral school acceptance. They fill a form and send required documents (CV, motivation letter, language certificates, diplomas etc.) to the doctoral school. After being accepted, students have 1 year to find a professor to support them.

I didn't go through an interview. I did my master studies at EPFL and was offered a PhD student position by two different professors at the end of my master.

A 50-minute interview was conducted, during which my knowledge was tested. They asked exclusively about the technical design process, and the only other question was my motivation for applying to the PhD program.
