Very informal interview directly with the professor I was interested working with before I actually started the application process. I got the chance to meet him after I spoke with one of his Phd student.

I didn't go through an interview. I did my master studies at EPFL and was offered a PhD student position by two different professors at the end of my master.

A 50-minute interview was conducted, during which my knowledge was tested. They asked exclusively about the technical design process, and the only other question was my motivation for applying to the PhD program.
