One of the worst professional experiences of my life. I applied for this position online, and received an email from HR a few days later telling me they'd like to conduct a phone interview for a different position. Initially, I was excited, and I wanted to hear them out even though this wasn't the exact job I wanted.
She asked me times that I would be available, and I informed her I am currently working full-time so either during my lunch break or after normal business hours would work well for me. The interview time came and went without me receiving a phone call. I thought this was odd, but surely, there's a reasonable explanation. I never received a follow-up from the company so I emailed the woman I'd been in contact with at HR to inform her of the miscommunication. She briefly apologized and asked for a second window of available. My response was the same as previously discussed.
We setup a new appointment towards the end of the business day, and I took off work early to make it home in time to take the phone call. In addition, this day happened to be my son's 2nd birthday, but it was an important enough job opportunity for me so I took the time away from my family that evening to field the call. I sat in my home office for an hour waiting for the call that never came. I thought to myself, "Surely, they would email me the next day and explain the mishap." That email/phone call never came. This was a complete was of my family's and my time.
I can understand this happening once, but twice in the same week missing appointments without any follow-up on their end is unprofessional and unacceptable.
