1st interview was on the phone and went fine. The phone interview was the basic questions about myself and my background. I then took a coding assessment that was fairly simple. The 2nd interview was a zoom meeting. The 2nd interview was an awful experience. The guy I interviewed with was an arrogant jerk. He made rude comments about my age thinking I am young (I'm not as young as I look). He asked technical questions that were ambiguous or obscure and made rude comments when I said I could research that question to give him a more robust answer. Some technical questions i would have answers that he didn't seem to fully understand. He told me about the areas they are struggling in the most, and those areas lined up with the answers that confused him the most. I feel he felt a bit intimidated at times and would react with hostility and rude comments. He insinuated I was lying about why I left my previous employer. He insisted I was the problem at my previous job and kept saying they fired me after i told him many times I left amicably. My previous job was toxic and mentally abusive, that is why I left. I went to therapy to help me realize what my previous employer was doing to my mental health. For him to jump to conclusions and constantly spin things into me being worthless was traumatizing. I tried to look past his actions and give the company another chance for more interviews. A week goes by after that interview and I hear nothing, so I contacted the recruiter. He said ESC is concerned with my skill level, but they are shuffling things around and they would have a spot for me in 2 weeks. Another month goes by, and I finally get an email from ESC that I'm not a good fit and they are considering other candidates.
