The interview process is long. The questions that they ask people when calling for a reference the people feel like they are interviewing for a position. They require to speak to former managers and not all people will get positive feedback when leaving a position for a different position. The company did a phone interview with HR then they called you in for a one on one interview with the manager then they called you back for another interview with another manager. They should do all the interviews at once not have people come back several times
