      Software Engineer Interview

      Mar 21, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Echo (CA) (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2015

      Interview

I was hired through a recruiter, who had me take an online test for C# specifically. It was an easy test, 2 min per question, and they just ask you C# related questions that you'd typically google or find on MSDN. The actual interview involved someone from HR asking you standard interview questions and going over your resume. Afterwards, you meet with the development team and they ask you more technical questions, starting with stuff based off your resume. The technical portion involved you going over two sheets of paper with easy to medium code snippets on them, and they ask you to solve it. I found they look more for your thought process as you go through, so be vocal about your thinking. As a CS minor, I solved most of these fairly easily, and the ones I didn't know I would try, asking questions and admitting knowledge lapses as I go. Overall, work on your standard interview skills, and make sure you know your basic algorithms, recursion, and SQL, and you should be fine. Do practice problems in a C# playground.

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Echo (CA) (San Diego, CA) in Nov 2015

      Interview

First phone screen where a nice lady asked behavioral questions like strengths / weakness, past experiences. I was scheduled for an onsite interview within next 2 days. This onsite interview was my most awkward interview till date. It was a panel interview with 3 people. They introduced themselves with just their first names. I could not know who did what in the company. They just sat awkwardly silent in between the questions and hardly made an effort to communicate. So all the time it was me trying to convince them that, I had whatever it might take to do the job . It was not clear what they wanted in a candidate so I was not able to respond properly. I thought I answered their technical questions well.
