      Financial Advisor Interview

      May 31, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Edward Jones in Apr 2018

      Interview

After submitting an application online, I did not hear back for over three weeks. A representative from Edward Jones called my phone asking if it was a good time to discuss the position and acquire more information on my interest for the position of Financial Advisor. What I thought was going to be a mundane phone call turned slightly into an interview when I was being asked behavioral questions. Short phone call nonetheless. I then met with a financial advisor at a local branch in an informal setting to discuss my interest, go over the role of the job, and answer questions. This is for your benefit, make sure to come prepared to garner a better understanding of the job. After this point, there are many steps. The next step is a phone screening and then a face-to-face interview. This is a repetitive process but it is necessary to continue to answer the questions to the fullest extent. If the interview goes well, then you will move on to the business planning portion. This is when you work with a local advisor to actually plan how you will run your branch. Do not take this lightly, it is very important. After the business plan is submitted, then you will have an hour and a half phone interview discussing in further detail the business plan. If that goes well, then you will move on to the infamous Virtual Day in the Life assessment. A rigorous 4 hour assessment testing you abilities. You shall get a phone call within a few hours after finishing the assessment if you are being offered a job.

      Interview

Interview process first consists of numerous dinner events, all very laid back where you get to learn more about the company and the advisors in the region, and they get to learn more about you. If you keep getting invited back to dinners, consider it progress in the interview process. Honestly, the best, most effective interview process.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Edward Jones (Vancouver, WA)

      Interview

it's a series of interviews with people in the office then a full-day of simulating the role of the advisor where you're receiving calls from clients and team mates as well as receiving emails. As a career-changer, this was the part of the interview phase where I realized Edward Jones wasn't the right start to my career as a financial advisor and ended up going somewhere that invested in my growth rather than a "sink or swim" type of place.
