The beginning of the process is fine. You fill out an online application and then have a phone interview. I had a panel interview with three FAs after that. At this point, because of scheduling, I was around 6 weeks into an application process. In my opinion, 6 weeks is too long. It wasn’t my schedule holding us up, it was Jones’. After my panel interview, I was told I had three more interviews with three different advisors in the area. Three! Okay, fine. Or rather, it would have been fine if they had all communicated about my application process. I was asked the exact same questions by each of them. At this point I had interviewed with 6 advisors, and had only answered about 10 interview questions - the repetition is tiresome. After these three interviews I had been in the application process for almost two and a half months. I had one more interview with an advisor I was supposed to be assigned to upon being hired (if it went well, which it did - we got along). Then I was told I had to do a “day-in-the-life assessment” where you essentially run a virtual practice using some 3rd party software. You make calls and take calls and send emails, etc. Apart from being ridiculously over the top, this is a 4 hour interview that can only be scheduled Monday - Friday during business hours. I had to take an entire morning off work to do this.
Throughout the entire process Jones hammered one idea home. It’s all about relationships. They want you to have a deep understanding of your clients. Be their friends, be their trusted advisor. Great, that sounds very personable and relatable. Here’s the stinger: after 10 rounds of interviews, meeting 7 different advisors and 3 phone calls with a recruiter, I was told via an AUTOMATED email that I wasn’t a fit. Feedback up until the assessment was great. And then some 3rd party vendor that’s role playing with me is the deciding factor. For a company that puts such a large emphasis on building relationships, they’re very prepared to throw the candidate/employer relationship out the window. Never heard from anyone after that; couldn’t even get feedback on why I wasn’t selected because it’s not their company policy.
Don’t waste your time. This company espouses values that they don’t practice.
