I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Egen (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2023
Interview
They contacted me via linked in to schedule a call. They didn't provide information up front, and were cagey about answers until finally, they started talking. That salary they started with was about 55k under my floor. I tried to end the process there, but they pushed and started slowly raising the possible salary range. I told them that even I they come up to my floor, I'm not taking the least I will possibly take for a job that requires me to commute to an office three days a week, with no easy public transit method of getting there, because it would need to buy a second car. They dismissed all of my concerns in what I found to be rude or like they didn't understand and just wanted to give a hard sell. That was Tuesday. I told them I would take the assessment on Wednesday evening. I received two more calls asking when I would take the assessment because they wanted to get the next interview round scheduled. Telling them I was going to do it in the evening Wednesday didn't seem to sink in. I had read similar stories about the hardsell low ball approach, and I happen to be running a 99.8 degree fever and not really wanting to deal with this kind of thing while I am sick. I told them I was no longer interested in the code challenge. They didn't listen to that and began talking past what I said again, completely ignoring my no. So I hung up, declined the code signal, disconnected on linked in, and wrote this. Don't talk to these guys unless you are desperate. They don't seem to respect their applicants, so I doubt they treat their employees much better.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They had me go through my experience. Asked if I was good with hybrid, but didn't care about the fact that I would be willing to do three days a week anything.
Good interview process. Fair but not easy and felt it accurately accessed my skills and ability to do the job. I'd recommend this company to others to go out and interview for.
first screening from HR
second coding round in a platform ....question is regarding bank, account withdrawal, deposit, etc
third round video interview covers dsa, java core, java streams, and more
