The interview process was straightforward at first. They scheduled me for a 2.5 hour interview, where I was interviewed by 5 people for half an hour each. While a couple of the people who interviewed me were friendly, I got a general "firing squad" vibe from several. I got a call from HR shortly after the first interview, saying that they'd like to interview me again, this time with different people. The second interview lasted 3 hours, with a 20 minute break in the middle, and consisted of 5 separate conversations with either one or two people. More firing squad, with a couple of friendly people thrown in there for good measure. Immediately after the second interview I was sent down to HR for their technology tests. I was tested on typing (accuracy and speed), Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. During the test, the HR lady left the room. Unfortunately their testing software was very glitchy and kicked me out of the test at least once or twice during each of the 5 tests, and I had to call the HR lady to come help me every time this happened. That turned the testing from a 1 hour process to a more than 2 hour process. A day or two after the second interview and testing, I got an email from HR, who up until now had been very responsive and helpful, asking me to complete a form with 5 references. I did as requested, and all of my references were sent a survey about their experience working with me. Around that time I also got a call from HR to discuss salary and she said that they were "extremely interested" in my candidacy, which seemed like an excellent sign. That's when things got really weird -- the HR lady said she would call me back by a certain day, but didn't. She was slow to respond when I contacted her to follow up. She started telling me she'd call or e-mail but didn't. Then I saw that El Camino had posted the job on Indeed again. Still, El Camino strung me along for a month and a half after my second interview, telling me they were "almost done" with the process. Ultimately, I got a generic e-mail from them saying that they went with someone with more experience, and I have no clue what happened.
