I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ElevenLabs in Apr 2026
Interview
A recruiter reached out via LinkedIn and after a successful screening call, I had an interesting discussion with a senior engineer on the team. He asked thoughtful questions about my background including some system design questions with technical depth. He also had great answers to my questions about the team, the role and engineering culture at ElevenLabs.
The recruiter then told me that the feedback was positive and scheduled the final round, a 20min call with one of the co-founders. Everything was great up to this point.
The call with the co-founder felt very rushed. He was 5min late and also couldn't turn on his camera due to connectivity issues. There was no proper introduction and he directly jumped into a mix of unstructured questions about my background, my motivation to join the company and detailed technical issues. The expected level of detail was unclear and it all felt very hectic with very little time for thinking about how to properly structure my answers. The answers to my questions about the team and the role were rather generic. Perhaps also due to lack of time or lack of interest on his behalf. Overall this experience was rather disappointing. The co-founder seemed like a very smart guy, but he was not able to conduct a professional interview.
Although the co-founder told me that there might be another round next to assess coding abilities (not the final round after all?), I was ghosted by the recruiter after that, despite two follow ups.

Interview
A recruiter contacted me and asked for samples of my work. Then a 1-hour screening interview with the recruiter. Then a 1-hour interview with another research engineer in the company. Finally a 30-minute chat with one of the co-founders of the company. I did not need to do any coding exercises as a part of the interview process, as they trusted my abilities based on what they observed on the internet. I got an offer letter a few days later, and the formal offer two weeks after that.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about background, experience, projects and the like. Standard questions, I would say.
Thank you for the brief breakdown. Glad the process worked the way you described - the Co-founder time at the end of the interview process is the kind of detail that gives a candidate a real read on our culture, and we are glad it added something for you.
Welcome - we're glad to have you.
