I went through the interview process for a Senior Quality Engineer role and found it to be one of the most disorganized and unprofessional hiring experiences I’ve had.
There was significant miscommunication between HR and the hiring manager around key offer details like pay, PTO, and WFH flexibility. The recruiter told me they would provide an expedited PTO option to match my current PTO, which was important to me in considering the move. However, when I received the offer, it was left out. When I asked the hiring manager about it, he told me it couldn’t be added. The following week, when I contacted the recruiter again, he said it could be added, revealing that the manager either misinformed me or didn’t want to deal with the issue. This left me in the position of repeatedly following up just to get clarity on what should have been a straightforward commitment.
There were lengthy delays without updates at multiple stages, including several instances where I was told I would receive a call or update on a specific day, only to be left waiting without a response. I had to follow up multiple times just to keep the process moving.
After I shared my salary expectations, I noticed that they reposted the job on LinkedIn and Indeed without informing me, which made it feel like they were shopping for cheaper candidates rather than valuing the conversations we were having.
Even after I received a formal offer, when I requested a reasonable delayed start due to a scheduled surgery and vacation, they ignored my follow-up for days and let the offer deadline pass without communication. I then received a 5 AM email the following business day withdrawing the offer entirely rather than simply letting me know they could not accommodate the request.
Overall, this process showed a lack of respect for a candidate’s time, poor alignment between HR and management, and inconsistent communication that leaves you feeling undervalued as a professional. If you value a clear, organized, and respectful hiring process, you may want to prepare for a frustrating experience.
