      Senior Product Manager Interview

      Interview

TLDR: It's crazy to have 5 interview cycles for an IC role. To add to that, it's a red flag that a company, whose whole mission is to making hiring easier and more efficient, fails at the most basic communication with their candidates. It started out with the usual recruiter screening with a live person. I was then referred over to a 1 on 1 interview with the hiring manager, which went well and was over all a delight. I moved forward into a 1 on 1 with a fellow PM which was also a great discussion. Things started falling apart by the fourth interview which was a 2 person panel discussion for which they only allotted 45 minutes. I had less than 15 minutes to ask any of my questions. Each interview went the same way: The interviewer went first, taking most of the time leaving less than a quarter of the interview time for the applicant to ask questions. After the fourth interview, I didn't hear anything back for over a week. I followed up with the recruiter and did not hear a response after waiting another week. I had to follow up with other people in the interview process to get a response. Days later I got a response saying they were not moving forward with my application. This means 2 other people went forward to a fifth and final round with the VP who would be the ultimate decider.

      Interview

I only participated in the recruiter screening process, which was honestly great. The recruiter was very friendly and easy to talk to and provided a lot of information about the company and role. The next stage of the process was an interview with the hiring manager for the following week, but they ended up filling the position before my interview. I got an email from both the recruiter and the hiring manager who were very gracious. It was overall a positive experience!
