      Customer Success Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Employ (MA) (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

This was one of the most weirdly-structured interview processes I have gone through. I applied online and was reached out to by an in-house recruiter for a phone screening. I was asked to come in for an on-site panel style meeting with some of the team members of the department I was applying to, but when I got there this changed. I did not meet anyone from the team and instead the first person I ever met with and talked to was the CEO. Granted, they were going through a leadership transition for the department, but if that was the case--they should have waited for the transition to be complete before interviewing new candidates. This is NOT a good structure for interviewing. It put a ton of pressure on myself too early on and left me feeling unprepared after I had done my research/preparation for an entirely different group of people. I felt that this should have been one of the last steps in the process rather than the first.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Interviewer asked me too many questions about my last company, why I left, and what didn't work there rather than my skills as an employee and why I would be a good fit for Lever. Since I as an interviewer cannot direct how the conversation flows--I can only really answer the questions given to me, we spent far too much time talking about negatives rather than any positives in my past work history and about myself. It felt to me like the interviewer was trying to get insight into how to prevent similar situations from arising in this company rather than seriously considering me for the open position, but I cannot say for sure that this was deliberate.

Thanks for taking the time to submit a review on the interview process here at Lever. We're sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience with us. I'd love to hear more about your particular experience--it sounds like this may have been some time ago, as our CEO transition happened about two years ago. Thanks for the feedback, and we'll discuss any actionable items internally. Thank you!
