I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Essex Property Trust (San Mateo, CA) in Jan 2016
Interview
Had two in person interviews with a community manager. Easy interview, none of your standard questions like " Why should we hire you?" or "When was a time you had to handle a difficult client?" or anything along those lines. Interview was more like a conversation where the community manager was trying to feel you out and get to know you a little.
I applied through other source. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Essex Property Trust in Mar 2015

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Essex Property Trust (San Jose, CA) in Jan 2014
Interview
The interview was quick I did have to wait on the manager to show up. She had forgotten about the interview and had left for lunch. Upon arriving I was greeted by a temp. I was then sat in the resident lounge to wait. Once the interview started it was a lot of questions on how to talk to residents and how would you handle .... type questions and tell me about a time you had to deal with someone upset.
