After scheduling an interview with HR, I unexpectedly received a rejection email over the weekend. The following Monday, the HR representative called me for a conversation. It quickly became clear that she hadn't reviewed my CV. Her first question was, “Do you need sponsorship in the future?”—to which I responded, “No.” She then asked about my current position and seemed unfamiliar with what a postdoctoral role entails. After I explained, she stated they were looking for someone with industrial experience—experience I already possess and that is clearly listed on my CV. It felt as though she was looking for a reason to disqualify me. Overall, it was a very disappointing and unprofessional experience.
