An Everest Re HR employee called me directly. It was followed up by two more in-person interviews.
I remember giving my interview 110%, meeting every single of the job requirements and demonstrating utmost respect, humility and poise throughout the whole process. My family and I were very excited about this job opportunity.
During the recruitment phase, the HR rep was very courteous, communicative and forthright ("If this role does not work out, we will definitely keep you posted about future roles"). But after waiting 5 weeks of waiting after, there was completed radio silence. I HAD TO CONTACT the HR Rep. Everest Re, we thought, would be a great next step given its excellent reputation and my successes as a professional.
The HR rep writes back saying "Oh I'm sorry. They went a different direction..." I couldn't believe it --- so casually... they did not think to call me and communicate the decision. No feedback whatsover. They were so interested in me before, emailing me and showing so much courtesy, but then nothing. I felt so insignificant and worthless... I put my heart into that interview, preparing for weeks by reading books, reading Insurance Insider, Bermuda ILS, The Insurance Journal... and I hired two interview coaches to help polish my presentation. I knew that role inside and out. In total, I spent overall 6 hours interviewing and over 30 hours researching and preparing, not a single piece of feedback. I felt absolutely worthless.
To add insult to injury, I saw up to seven roles appear on their website in the months following the interview, ones that were almost word-for-word a match with my profile. Did I hear from HR? No. Advice to HR: stop saying to people "we'll keep your file on record for future roles". This tarnishes your image.
This was a cold experience. I do not intend applying to Everest Re again.
